Jobs for Mississippi Graduates

Jobs for Mississippi Graduates’ student achievers traveled to the nation’s capital to compete for national titles in four academic competitions:  public speaking, employability skills, math skills and project-based learning.

Mississippi reigned supreme out of 32 states represented at the Jobs for America’s Graduates 2019 National Student Leadership Academy.

Students compete during the spring for their statewide competitions, and those state winners then go on to compete nationally for the big title.  Mississippi has four, more than any other state represented at the conference.

Three of the four winners attend Gentry High School in Indianola.  A’Myah Robinson and Sylvester Washington, Jr. both took home the 1st Place Award for Project Based Learning, while T’Rossi Pernell accepted the 2nd Place Award for Public Speaking.

Joseph Jouburt stated, " To teach is to learn twice".  I believe these teachers are teaching and learning each and everyday.  It is my pleasure to introduce to you the 2019-2020 Sunflower County Consolidated School District's Teachers of the Year.

Congratulations and let's keep #winning!!!
